Job Announcement Number: ARS-X10W-0126
Incumbent serves as a Supervisory Research Scientist and Research Leader for the Integrated Cropping Systems Research Unit of the North Central Agricultural Research Laboratory (NCARL) in Brookings, South Dakota.
The Unit’s primary mission is to develop, evaluate, and transfer sustainable production and bioprocessing systems that enhance environmental quality and provide profitability for agriculture with emphasis on integrated pest and
crop management, and agricultural product development.
As Research Leader, the incumbent is responsible for fostering the scientific productivity, quality and impact of the unit and the professional development of its member scientists.
This is accomplished through scientific meetings, mentoring junior scientists, reviewing manuscripts, drafts, etc. The incumbent plans, implements, and reports the results of research that combines crop,
soil, and pest management strategies into holistic agricultural systems that emphasize crop rotation, soil and water conservation, integrated pest management, and biomass/biofuel crop production and utilization.
The incumbent develops system science principles that describe these holistic agricultural systems and develops decision aids that will consolidate emerging technologies into a form that can help producers make informed decisions.
