| Description of duties |
Agronomist I - Plant - Lone Tree, IA - 1527
Role Purpose -
Responsible for managing assigned process of corn and/or soybean production for the production facility to ensure a high quality, reliable supply of low cost of goods produced. Foster an operational culture founded on HSE and process improvement.
Accountabilities -
- Develop programs regarding agronomic issues in corn and/or soybean fields including fertility, weed and insect programs. Manage cost of these activities, evaluate results for process improvements. Make pesticide and fertility recommendation to optimize yield and COGP.
- Directs conditioning activities in conjunction with conditioning leader. Maintains reports, records, identifies historical benchmarks to establish goals.
- Plan and communicate acreage selection to growers. Develop and maintain a grower evaluation system to increase yield.
- Inventory management of the bulk storage inventory during harvest, along with entry, tracking and transfers of inventory.
- General administrative management duties including signing grower contracts, collecting and preparing data for reports, management meetings, contacting applicators and chemical companies.
- Coordinates with Plant Management Team to set schedules and determine workforce needs.
- Work with Plant Management Team on training and maintaining a safe work environment in accordance with HSE policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

| Qualifications sought |
Critical knowledge:
- BS degree in Agriculture or related field - Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) certification - Knowledge of general industry procedures, practices, and terminology
Critical experience:
- 0 to 3 years of experience in Agriculture or related field or equivalent work experience and knowledge are required - Training in crop scouting is preferred
Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities:

- PC and business software skills
- Strong agronomic and pest management skills - Ability to adapt to changing environmental/situational needs.
- Ability to make timely, effective decisions.

Additional Information -
PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Position requires being able to walk seed production fields in any weather - Position requires working 7 days a week during critical time of year.
- Position requires travel by car/pickup during certain periods of year.
WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Position requires being able to walk seed production fields in any weather.
- Position requires be able to work in dusty and hot conditions.
- Office environment a portion of the year.
