Description of duties The successful applicant will conduct greenhouse/laboratory and applied field-oriented research in crop/weed ecology and eco-physiology. More specifically, field research will involve evaluating how plant reproductive ecology (plasticity, fitness, etc.) responds to herbicide timing. Greenhouse and laboratory research will evaluate the influence of herbicide timing on floral attributes, pollination, and gene expression. The successful applicant will prepare a research proposal, conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data, and present results at conferences and meetings. Publication of results in scientific journals is strongly encouraged at the PhD level.
Qualifications sought Candidate must hold a BSc. and/or MSc. degree in plant science or a related discipline and will have demonstrated strong academic performance (minimum GPA of 3.3). Experience in field research is an asset but is not required. We are seeking a student that has excellent communication and organizational skills, is highly motivated, and has the ability to work well independently and with others. Candidates should have excellent proficiency in the English language (written and oral).
