Description of duties Head, Value Chain Industry Relations - Washington, DC - 1311

Role Purpose -

This position is to provide leadership across Syngenta NAFTA business to create freedom to operate for commercial portfolio strategies that require the support from key stakeholders and industry trade groups specific to down-stream value chain. Champion Syngenta products, brand and position to members of the food supply chain past commodity groups. Build long-term relationships with critical partners in financial success. Monitor ongoing activities which affect Syngenta; recommend policy positions to the Syngenta management. Influence trade association positions by active participation on appropriate committees and Boards. Bring external value-chain stakeholder perspective into Syngenta for open dialogue and thoughtful strategic planning.

Accountabilities -
  • Responsible for building an industry outreach program from commodity groups forward in the value chain that support NAFTA businesses.
  • Responsible for managing key trade group relationships, and engaging company representatives from both parties in owning these relationships to strengthen our connections.
  • Responsible for building and managing a grassroots network of third party advocates to support Syngenta when it is needed.
  • Coordinates closely with government relations, state government relations, NAFTA Technology Acceptance Committee and regulatory affairs teams to coordinate activities
Qualifications sought Critical knowledge:
  • Familiar with trade associations, federal and state government processes. Thorough understanding of how the food supply chain works and the issues that make the industry successful.
Critical experience:
  • Experience with State and Federal Government Relations is a plus. Proven record of success in previous positions. Demonstrated ability to set strategies, implement tactics, and meet objectives.
