MAJOR DUTIES:
The incumbent plans, supervises, and conducts basic and applied research concerning the classical biological control of invasive weeds using arthropod agents, the biology and ecology of natural enemies and the environment. The potential range of responsibilities may include some or all of the following research topics: host plant and natural enemy biology and population ecology; natural enemy physiological and behavioral ecology; host-specificity; temporal and spatial population dynamics; characterization of ecological interactions affecting natural enemies and invasive weeds; the effects of abiotic and biotic factors on natural enemy population dynamics and impact on host plants; implementation and release of biocontrol agents; long-term field assessment and monitoring; overseas exploration for biological control agents; and partnering with scientists domestically and in other countries.
