| Description of duties |
- Provide leadership for Extension educational programs in crops, soils, weeds, forage, and rangelands in Southwest Kansas, which includes an ability to plan, design, implement, provide training, evaluate, account for, and market significant Extension education programs.
- Develop a cooperative Extension and Applied Research Program in agronomy with an interdisciplinary team of Extension Specialists and Research Scientists. This program will be responsive to the issues and needs of the people of southwest Kansas and integrate with other subject matter disciplines at the area and state level where appropriate.
- Meet expectations of Extension-Related Scholarship and Applied Research. Extension Scholarship includes developing traditional Extension publications and bulletins, interacting and sharing ideas with other Extension and Research colleagues, and communication with clientele, via public meetings and conferences, web sites, and electronic means. The Applied Research Program should compliment the Extension educational goals and objectives and include participation in appropriate professional organizations, and publishing in agronomy-related outlets as outlined in departmental promotion and tenure guidelines.
- Jointly responsible to the Southwest Area Extension Director and the Head of the Department of Agronomy for Extension agronomic educational programs and subject-matter competency.

| Qualifications sought |
Required:
- Ph.D. at the time of appointment in agronomy (crops, soils, range, forage, or weed science) or related field.
- Evidence of production agriculture experiences.
- Oral and written communication with English language.
- Ability to use technology and delivery methods that support educational programs and guides behavior change among Extension learners.
- Experience and ability to work in an environment of different cultural, social, and economic perceptions, assumptions, norms, beliefs, and values.
- Evidence of past experiences with diverse individuals and groups to create partnerships, networks, and collaborative relations.
- Eligibility to obtain, or possession of a valid Kansas Driver's License
