Description of duties This position works closely with Marketing, Sales, Regulatory, Formulations, and peer Product Development Managers along with Key Customers and Global Development to apply broad product development knowledge and prioritize product development investments. The position will have responsibility and accountability for prioritizing and implementing product development plans related to existing and new products for North America.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead or co-lead development program designed to meet business objectives for assigned area of responsibility with FMC internal resources, external research cooperators, and collaborators.
  • Ensure technical methods meet the highest scientific standards, quality technical results, data interpretation and summarization to support and reinforce product positioning and business recommendations developed from these results.
  • Oversee the development and tracking of integrated project plans. Establishes and maintains project communications. Oversees project estimations. Oversees the development of project deliverables. Establishes and maintains processes to manage scope throughout the project lifecycle. Identifies and maintains project issues. Sets project quality and performance standards. Assesses and manages risk over the project lifecycle. Maintains project tracking and information systems.
  • Builds and structures project teams to ensure maximum performance. Provides purpose, direction, and motivation to learn. Clarifies and communicates project objectives and success criteria. Ensures key project-wide roles and responsibilities are defined. Ensures the use of best practices and applies lessons learned from previous projects. Ensures a positive, collaborative work environment for the team. Mentors and coaches project team members as appropriate. Manages third party partner and/or vendor relations as necessary.
  • Responsible for ongoing stakeholder satisfaction. Manages peer-level relationships (expectations, communications, negotiations, escalation, feedback, etc.). Develops relationships with key stakeholders and executives. Provides day-to-day project contact for the client.
  • Collaborate across North America and network with colleagues in the FMC APG organization to optimize technical solutions and maximize the value to FMC.
  • Become/be the resident expert for assigned area of responsibility and provide product development and technical understanding among North America personnel.
  • Work with Marketing, Crop Segment Teams, and Key Account Teams to develop business plans for assigned areas.
  • Identify new development/commercial opportunities and make recommendations necessary to promote decisions that affect North America revenues, work with 3rd party and Global Development personnel to draft protocols and manage data findings, develop and implement project related field studies.
  • Work with North America external researchers and collaborators to ensure testing is managed appropriately and is cost effective.
  • Develop external technical credibility as demonstrated through publications and presenting at scientific meetings or trade organizations.
  • Implement a user-friendly, technically robust North America field trial database and institutionalize its use throughout the division.
Qualifications sought Experience:
  • 2-3 years of experience in the agricultural industry
  • 2-3 years of experience with field trial experimental design, interpretation and reporting of results
  • Strong analytical, project management, and planning skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to interact with commercial and research business groups and across cultures
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Outstanding written and oral presentation skills to effectively communicate complex issues in a clear, concise manner to a variety of business and scientific audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver solutions in a changing and challenging environment
  • Strong decision-making and judgment skills
  • Ability to thrive and effectively operate in a highly dynamic and informal environment
Education:
  • MS/PhD in entomology or other agricultural related science
