Description of duties Applications are sought from motivated individuals interested to undertake basic, multidisciplinary research focusing on the ecological aspect of allelopathy and its utilization in ago-ecosystems.

Additional possible research topics include, but are not limited to, ecology of invasive species focusing on resource-foraging and allelopathic interactions, fate and transport of plant secondary metabolites in soil, and ecology of clonal plants.

Students will have ample opportunity to creatively pursue their own hypothesis-driven research projects within these broader themes. Interdisciplinary and collaborative approach is strongly encouraged.
Qualifications sought Independent-minded candidates with the ability to think critically and with good problem-solving capacities will be given priority. The project demands significant amount of lab and field work.

The candidates seeking the position should have a solid plant physiological-ecology background, should be willing to learn plant and soil biochemistry, and instrumentation including various modern spectroscopy, microscopy and chromatography techniques.

Successful applicants should have a strong work ethic and demonstrate evidence of being able to work independently, but also collaboratively. The candidate will be expected to present his/her research results at national meetings and to prepare manuscripts for publication in the peer-reviewed journals.
