Description of duties Basic duties of this position will be to design, analyze, interpret, and execute experiments in the area of weed control in horticultural crops and invasive weed management with a specific focus on an experimental herbicide currently under development with a major agrochemical company. Specific responsibilities will include implementation and management of experimental field, greenhouse, and/or laboratory research. All field, laboratory, and greenhouse experiments may require physical activity including some lifting, work in extreme temperature environments, and work around radiolabeled chemistry and experimental chemistry that is currently not registered. The successful candidate must be willing to travel across the state and regionally to present research findings to various professional societies and extension groups.
Qualifications sought M.S. or B.S. degree in Weed Science, Agronomy, Horticulture, Botany, or other related discipline. Strong written and oral communication skills along with the ability to work with others in a team oriented environment are a must. Training in all aspects of the design and implementation of small plot research is essential. Experience with general crop production, hydroponics, growth chamber methodology, and experience with radiolabeled herbicide research is highly desirable. Detailed experience with multiple computer systems, especially those pertaining to web based design, is highly desirable.
