| Description of duties |
Monsanto, an Ag industry leader creating scientific breakthroughs around the world, is seeking a highly motivated PRODUCTION RESEARCH ASSOCIATE for our team in Constantine, MI.
In this role the candidate will be responsible for managing and implementing specific projects within the Production Research Team. Candidate will be trained and expected to support the planting, harvesting, agronomic management, field parent test data collection, and research data sampling. The Production Research Associate will coordinate and carry out assigned projects with seed site personnel and/or Technology as deemed appropriate. This position will demand independent thinking, time management, and the ability to be self motivated to implement research and parent testing efforts directed by the Production Research Scientist, for the improvement of corn seed cost of production, quality, and supply reliability to NA Seed Manufacturing.
Candidate must have strong computer skills, be detailed oriented, and be able to operate within a team-oriented environment. Strong communication skills will be required to provide reports and data reviews to Production Research Scientist. The candidate will also participate in NA Seed Production efforts around ISO9002 and transfer knowledge and learning's across the seed production organization. Additionally, the candidate will assist with making necessary ISO updates as business and/or process changes, participate in Monsanto's World Class Safety program, manage hourly personnel to collect field and laboratory data collection and operate and maintain field equipment.

| Qualifications sought |
The successful candidate will possess:
- B.S. degree with 2+ years agricultural research experience. Preferred: M.S. in Agronomy, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Soils, or Weed Science.
- Field experience in operation, maintenance and function of agronomic research plot equipment.
- Experience in field scouting and/or entomological experience.
- Knowledge of corn seed production.
- Decision-making and problem solving skills.
- Capability to work with people in such a manner as to build high morale and group commitments to goals and objectives; e.g. team orientation.
- Ability to work outdoors.
- Willingness to handle and work in closed proximity to agricultural pesticides and herbicides.
- Ability to obtain local and/or area pesticide applicators licenses.
- Flexibility to travel 10-15% of time and willingness to work long hours (40 hrs/wk) seasonally.
- Can be an Associate or Assistant position based on candidate's qualifications.
