Description of duties Cornell Cooperative Extension Suffolk County (Riverhead, NY) is searching for a full time Structural and Public Health Pest Management Specialist. Educator will be responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Pest Management Program on Suffolk County owned and/or operated buildings and grounds as required by Local Law 34-1999. Educator will coordinate the structural pest management program, supervise technicians, train Suffolk County staff, establish pest management action thresholds, provide information on alternative practices, evaluate progress and propose changes in the Pest Management program. This person will conduct applied research and demonstrations independently and in cooperation with extension educators, Cornell faculty and other agencies. This educator will attend and actively participate in the Suffolk County Pesticide Community Advisory Committee meetings and seek outside funds to expand programs for other public a gencies. Special attention will be made to institute practices that have minimum adverse effects on public health and environment. Educator will assist in managing a budget, assist in developing the annual plan of work, evaluate progress and propose changes in the program.

Qualifications sought Masters Degree required in pest management or related sciences (entomology, and vertebrate pest management) with an emphasis on structural pest management preferred.
