| Description of duties |
The University of Arizona Maricopa Agricultural Center, 37860 W. Smith-Enke Rd., Maricopa, is seeking a full-time Research Specialist to work on cropping systems. The successful candidate will plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate applied field trials, greenhouse experiments, and laboratory research on agriculture in the State of Arizona. The research and extension program in cropping systems requires working with other researchers to develop new technologies and extending the information to growers in Arizona.
- Coordinates and executes field and greenhouse experiments under extreme weather conditions;
- Manages and maintains research plots;
- Operates and maintains research equipment in field and laboratory;
- Collects, processes and analyzes research data;
- Travels in Arizona to conduct experiments in growers field and other extension activities;
- Evaluates research findings and assists in reporting results;
- Assists in the preparation of manuscripts for publications and in grant writing;
- Supervises students and field/lab assistants;
- Performs related duties as assigned.

| Qualifications sought |
- Master degree in agriculture-related field; or Bachelor's degree in agriculture-related field with two years field research experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
- Experience with field research is essential;
- Excellent oral and written communication with English language;
- Eligibility to obtain, or possession of a valid Arizona Driver's License;
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally;
- Ability to work independently and as a team member;
- Experience with Microsoft office software.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment and two years related research experience; or, six years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; or, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
